These are the novels Colin is currently working on. He approaches each one much like building a house: beginning with a clear picture of the finished result, then working backwards to determine how to get there.

Each project usually starts with a strong visual idea. Colin often designs the cover and settles on a working title before the first chapter is written. Both may evolve as the novel develops, but having that visual identity from the beginning helps him see the finished book and gives the story a destination to work towards.

He also rarely writes a novel in strict chapter order. If a particular scene, murder, reveal or piece of dialogue is clear in his head, he will often write that chapter first and fit it into the structure later. The story is then built around those key moments until the pieces come together as a complete novel.
