VIGILANTE
Rob Hoodford began running a homeless shelter in the beachside Sydney suburb of Bondi after his retirement from the building industry ten years prior.
Helping the needy was something Rob was very passionate about and as a builder he almost felt it was his calling in life to help people off the street.
His ‘customers’ as Rob lovingly called them, were mostly unemployed and down on their luck. It only took a few small changes in their lives to begin the downward spiral. Losing their job, home and eventually either living in a car or out on the street with no shelter at all.
Most people have a support network of friends or family to fall back on, but not these poor souls, they had no one and this made their situation almost impossible.
There were a few culprits, gambling was up top of the list and alcoholism too but, nothing came close to the mighty Methamphetamine, it was king of Home wrecking.
Commonly referred to as ‘Ice’ and a collection of other street names Crystal, Crank, Glass, but name aside, it was ruthless and unforgiving. A highly addictive drug, Just one try and you were hooked, lives both young and old were ruined by this evil monster.
